FAQ: What is the Bow? May 17, 2010

Filed under: FAQ — memeandbojo @ 10:09 am

I bow to you. You bow to me. What does it all mean?

In Buddhism, the bow is honoring the Buddha that we see in another. When seeing the Buddha in another, we recognize the Buddha in ourselves. We honor the spirit in another by the prayer like clasp of the hands held close to our hearts.

The bow says, I see the place in you where radiates all the love, integrity, wisdom and peace that is the purest part of you, and I humble myself before you and pay my respect to the beauty that is all of you. When we are in that place, we are One, and connected.
