We are all excited about the Youth Workshop that started March 14th, Sunday. This workshop begins each Sunday at 10am and continues until noon at the Fo Guang Shan Temple. It is open to ages five years – young adult.

The class will only be available in English.

Upcoming classes will include the traditional Chinese demonstration of the drums that are used during chanting and the fish chime, preview of Chinese meditation: both sitting and calligraphy, study of mandalas, as well as, stringing of the mala.

If anyone would like to attend Sunday services, bring your child along and as you enjoy the service, your child will be on the same floor but in the room next to services enjoying a relaxing time of Dharma and fun with other children.

After the services, you are welcomed to join your child if we are running late or just to pick up your child since children will remain in the room until the regular services are over, and they are with you. Immediately following the end of class, everyone can go eat a wonderful vegetarian lunch together downstairs in the dining hall.

I hope you will bring her! This week we are watching the movie, “the little monk.” The children are all looking forward to it. It is going to be a popcorn=iced animal cookies and soda pop = orange juice party! Afterwards they will select their favorite story from the movie and draw and color it for inclusion in our room art gallery. They always draw and color something each week to place on the classroom walls so one day the room will be completed into a child art gallery! So YES! We want Sophia’s art there too! So bring her in June!

I’ll try and place some coloring pages so you can print them out for her to color by the end of the week. We will be making malas in June so hopefully she can attend than and make herself her own mala to memorize the heart sutra with. The heart sutra will be the mantra on the children’s malas. So hope she can attend in June just for that class. She will have so much fun and come home with her own mala.

Aww!! We will definitely do that. She will be 5 years old on June 13th. So soon..I can’t believe 5 years have gone by already. =) I just read her the Heart Sutra this morning, I tried to make it like at the Dharma Group. She liked it! Especially the last line.
